Raleigh, NC Ranks #2 on Forbes List of the Next Big Boom Towns in the U.S.

What cities are best positioned to grow and prosper in the coming decade?

 

To determine the next boom towns in the U.S., Forbes, with the help of Mark Schill at the Praxis Strategy Group, took the 52 largest metro areas in the and ranked them based on various data indicating past, present and future vitality. Job growth accounted for 1/3 of the score and was based on performance over the past decade with a focus over the last two years. The remaining 2/3 was calculated using a broad range of demographic factors including rate of family formation, growth in educated migration, population growth and desirability as a home destination or business start-up.

 

Raleigh NC ranked #2 on the list as it has experienced the second highest overall population increase and the third highest job growth over the last twenty years. Raleigh is considered a magnet for technology companies because of lower expenses and less regulation. Affordable housing and lower taxes also makes Raleigh a desirable place to live.
